Zephyrs New Voice

Bolitho's new officeThe Reno Zephyrs have been playing decent baseball for the last season and a half. The organization has undergone extensive changes, starting with new ownership following the 2012 season, a new logo and uniforms in 2014, and, finally, the team’s first ever post season appearance in 2018. Now the front office is changing the radio voice of the ballclub.

Nathan Bolitho played shortstop for Reno in 2012 and was known as a weak-hitting defensive specialist. After leaving Reno, Nathan spent several seasons with Manchester before heading overseas to play a season for the Nihama-shi Ghosts. Bolitho was given his outright release from the Ghosts at the end of the 2016 season and eventually retired from playing baseball in January 2018. The thirty-five year old looks like he could still be playing the game. He keeps himself in terrific shape by working out for 2 hours every morning. His exercise routine consists of plyometrics and weight training.

Bolitho has been filling in as a guest announcer for Reno starting last season. The fans seemed to appreciate the excitement in his voice as the Zephyrs made their first ever post season appearance. The front office also liked what they heard.

Bolitho has been hired as radio analyst for the club and will be teamed with play-by-play announcer Dusty Beardsley on WZFR (620 AM). He makes his broadcast debut on Monday ,July 16th when the Zephyrs head to Palm Springs to take on the Codgers.

“We’re excited to have Nathan join our broadcast team,” said Cave Johnson, senior vice-president of marketing and sales. “The fact that he has played for the organization during one of the worst periods of our existence gives him a unique perspective on the game that we feel our fans will enjoy. Nathan also brings an energy and enthusiasm for Reno baseball that will add to the quality of our broadcasts.”

Nathan Bolitho resides in Reno with his wife Carol and two sons Nathan Jr. and Devan.

“I love the game of baseball and I am a huge Reno fan,” Bolitho said following the announcement of his full-time position with the ballclub.  “On top of that, I get a great view of every game the Zephyrs play. All I have to do is talk about the game and try to be a little interesting. I am truly blessed.”
