Time to Talk Dirty

Kawaguchi Transmitters GM, Jonas Pine, has wasted no time in searching for veterans and prospects amongst free agency to benefit his team. Pine picked up a variety of young athletes who appear to lack many fundamental baseball skills. Of all the prospects signed only one has ever appeared in a major league game. The well known former Rookie of The Year left fielder, Muhammad “Dirt Dog” Abiola. Dirt Dog has been a celebrated outfielder for much of his career. He always has been known to provide the highlight reel catch and his reckless determination for defensive domination.
“The past few years have been eye opening to me.” Abiola said “After plenty of honors and all-star years i have felt like I was on top of the world. As if nothing could ever stop me. Ever since I left Hyakujuu on waivers I just felt like things wouldn’t end up well. Then I was blessed by Mr. Dunn of the Niihama-Shi Ghosts who signed me. Unfortunately that journey was short lived. Since I was released last month I had been toying with retirement, luckily Mr.Pine caught me before I really committed to it. He had to do some convincing, but, ultimately I knew i’d agree to come back to baseball. It’s all I know ever since I was a little kid, turning two and hitting home runs.”
“He’s a great player and a great guy” Pine responded to our questions, “Dirt Dog is a class act and a great guy in the locker room. We were very close in Hyakujuu, he was always looking out for the younger players. In fact he has more then once dissuaded me from releasing a prospect. And that defense he provides! Muhammad has aged a bit, but he’s a stallion, he’s still running strong. He can keep up with some of our youngsters we have in our farm. His style of play is exactly what I want in this team, he always makes strides the extra mile on defensive. With any luck his style of play will rub of on our younger players. I’m as can be thrilled to bring Muhammad into Kawaguchi with me. I actually cannot imagine running this team without him. Muhammad may be headed down the hill on his playin’ days, but, this man is a baseball genius. I fully expect him to be calling the shots on a team of his own somewhere down the line.”
Whether Dirt Dog makes an impact on Kawaguchi remains to be seen, but, it appears that he is mostly being brought in for mostly support and leadership reasons.
