After what was considered a disastrous Winter meeting for the Ghosts, Tanner was suspended from team operations. The length of his suspension was not disclosed, but reconciliation between Tanner, team owner Akane Kenkyusham Jr., and manager John McLaughlin is a prerequisite for reinstatement. Kenkyusham Jr. was confident the process would be hours rather than days, and certainly not weeks. However, Tanner declined to take the Ghosts private jet back to Japan after the conclusion of the winter meetings. In doing so, Tanner thwarted a possible meeting with owner and manager and added extra drama to the circus that is quickly becoming the Ghosts front office.

Instead, Tanner chose to return to the familiar surroundings of his old baseball team, New Orleans. Tanner has not been made available to the media, and has not offered any commentary as to his recent actions and suspension. Speculations about why he has returned to New Orleans have run wild and range from the highly unlikely scenario that he is there to talk to Jack Cobb in an attempt to regain his old job, to the more likely returning to a familiar place to blow off steam and regain focus. Another possibility, is that Tanner, despite being on suspension is still doing work. The Trendsetters let home run king Morimoto walk this off season, and rumors are that Tanner would be interested in extending his career – for a second time. Morimoto’s agent has denied that there has been any contact with the Ghosts.

Either way, it seems that hours will not see the solution to this conflict looming over the front office of the Ghosts.
