“Seoul will be crushing everyone in 5 years”
South Korea– These words came from new GM Rick Watts at his press conference. Now that is a statement! 5 years?! Is this guy out of his mind? These Seoul team is broke, has absolutely no prospects, and has had steady leadership in years! 5 years? More like never!
During his press conference, Watts outlined his 5-year plan. He said it was going to be very similar to that of the Tempe Knights from the early ‘10s. Now, this won’t really kick in until the start of next year, but he’ll have the rest of this year to assess where this team is and what it needs most. He said he likes the core of the team and will plan to build around it. What this team needs, he said was “Love, the Seoul Crushers need someone to care about them and build them up into a perennial force.” The players he plans to build around are SP ‘Six Pack’ Hashimoto, superstar C Yosuke Imai, and LF Hirotaka Murakami. That’s an ace to build a rotation around and two of the best hitters in the LRS to build a lineup around. He also cited the lack of good gaijins as a problem too, “expect changes” he said.
The teams top ‘prospects’ are SP Juro Yamashita and SS Kinji Kondo. When asked about them, he said that they wouldn’t be part of the major league team tomorrow; I’m sending them down to AAA Pyongyang. They have been rushed this year and their results, or lack there of, shows it.
Right now, Watts is just another name to Crushers fans. He’ll need to win their support and trust before they start showing up to games. As for now the Crushers are still in last place and haven’t won in a while. Crush? Come on Watts? Have you seen our team? Please prove me wrong, this city needs it.
