Rocky’s Rampart, Clogger’s Corner improvements coming at Underground ballpark

London, UK –

The London Underground today announced a slew of additions and improvements to Pearson Metropolitan Park, continuing a growing trend of offseason improvements to the still sparkling new ballpark. The improvements will not only increase the ballpark’s capacity an additional 5,000 seats but will bring about a number of new fan experiences, expanded dining options, and a somber memorial garden.

The 5,000 additional seats will be split among several areas and price levels within the park. Unlike last season, which saw an entire new grandstand constructed, this years seating additions come after an in-depth analysis of utilization of space within the park which revealed numerous pockets of space that could be reconfigured to add additional seating or spaces which had been left empty for perceived engineering/structural causes which have since been alleviated or will be resolved as part of these modifications. In additional, all outfield bleacher sections have been extended by at least one row, in some cases more, giving fans with great eyesight and no particular concern for heights new seating options.

One particularly notable is the addition of approximately 200 seats atop the Tower of London reconstruction in right field, dubbed “Rocky’s Ramparts” after Underground star first basemen and Wunderkid runner-up Rocky Nichols. These premium seats will afford a unique vantage point as well as offering stay in your seat dining options and the sheer status afforded to being of one of just 200 in those seats. For its inaugural season, each fan buying a ticket for Rocky’s Ramparts will receive a free Rocky Nichols jersey-shirt and baseball card.

Another addition down the right field line will be a new fan experience section with room for several hundred standing-room tickets. More than just a general admission standing view area though, the area has been dubbed “Clogger’s Corner” after current Underground left-handed slugger Giampaolo Eremitani who is affectionally nicknamed clogger for reasons we cannot type here. Clogger’s Corner features a splash pad with an added twist – any fan who catches an Eremitani home run while in the splash pad will win a free Eremitani jersey and signed baseball. Early projections for the 2036 season put Eremitani at possibly hitting 50 home runs, giving fans many opportunities to score some swag! Additionally there will be a VR arcade installed which will allow both left and right-handed fans the opportunity to step into the batter’s box and swing for the fences in a lovingly recreated virtual Pearson Metropolitan Park. This area also includes new Italian themed dining options, including “MVPizza”, a nod to Eremitani’s 2035 IL Wild Card MVP trophy.

Finally, on a somber note the Underground announce the addition of the “Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Garden”. As readers will likely remember, the Queen died shortly after throwing out the debut first pitch at the opening game at Pearson Metropolitan Park, a connection that the tabloid media were all to keen to try and create. While the Underground organization cooperated with the Scotland Yard investigation and were quickly cleared of any responsibility they nonetheless felt the need to take their honoring of the late Queen even further. The memorial garden is outside the ticketed confines of the building, thus able to be visited by even fans of the lowest means. It features a quiet reflecting pool, several of the Queens favorite flowers and trees, and a small fountain alongside a plaque honoring her Majesty’s service. Additionally a bust of the Queen has been created and placed inside the British Baseball Museum, located within the reconstructed Tower of London – please note a ticket will be required to visit the Museum on game days. This bust is the centerpiece of a larger exhibit around the Queen’s first pitch.

All told these continued improvements and expanded capacity are a part of the long term vision the Underground front office have to create a team capable of sustaining itself for many years not just as a PEBA baseball team but as a perennial playoff contender. These moves underscore the key understanding that the ballpark is a significant financial driver for the organization and one that will be continuously improved to ensure fiscal boon.
