Haden Outstanding, No-Hits Stevedores
Saturday, August 16th , 2042
The Hobart Devils were just hoping for a solid outing from Douggie Haden. Instead, they got something special.
The 19-year-old hurler tossed a no-hitter against the Brisbane Stevedores, helping the Devils take the 3-0 win.
"I felt good throughout the game," he said after his spectacular outing for the Devils. "As I was going into the ninth inning, I wasn't nervous. I knew I had a chance to do something special."
Haden's repertoire has a fastball, curveball, and sinker, and he used it all to full advantage, keeping the Brisbane hitters off balance all game long. The Hobart hurler fanned 10 and walked 1 in his history-making performance.
"His fastball looked about the size of a watermelon seed and it hissed at you as it passed," Brisbane manager Joe O'Sullivan joked after the game.
This season, Haden has compiled a 3-5 record with a 2.69 ERA in 10 starts.
