Players Suspended in Raiders-Modernists Donnybrook
Saturday, August 10th , 2041
Yesterday at Tagliero Stadium José Gonzáles and Tony Slocombe got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Khartoum Raiders and Asmara Modernists. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Gonzáles will have to sit out 3 while Slocombe would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.
Gonzáles is hitting .179 in 2041 with 17 RBIs and 6 home runs.
This season, Slocombe has nailed down no saves with 80 strikeouts in 62.1 innings. He is credited with 2 wins and 5 losses and has a 4.76 earned run average.
