Rúbio Whacks 3 Out of the Park for Gwangju Saturday, August 16th , 2042 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Kuwana Steel Dragons. Gwangju first baseman Félix Rúbio tripled up on the home runs to propel the Jade Tigers to a win, 17-3, at Steelfire Stadium. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Kuwana manager Naosuke Horiuchi said. "Rúbio hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Rúbio collected 3 hits in 6 at-bats, 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Félix Rúbio struck out in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Hyo-cheong Pak in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Yasuhide Yasuda in the 7th, grounded out in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Jorge Fierro in the 9th. This year, Rúbio has socked 38 hits in 134 at-bats for a .284 average with 15 home runs. He is getting on base at a .360 pace and his totals also include 34 RBIs and 22 runs scored. |
