Tanaka Rips Gwangju for 5 Hits Thursday, August 14th , 2042 5 times is the charm -- at least for Mitsuoki Tanaka. The Edo Battousai third baseman tore up the Gwangju Jade Tigers to the tune of 5 hits in 7 at-bats at Newark Grounds. The offensive onslaught from Tanaka powered the 21-9 Battousai win. "Tanaka was a tough out," Gwangju manager Tetsu Daikawa said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure." Mitsuoki Tanaka singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th. This season, Tanaka has banged out 134 hits in 391 at-bats for a .343 average with 12 home runs. He is getting on base at a .386 pace and his totals also include 58 RBIs and 63 runs scored.
