Edo Goes Hitless Against Suárez
Wednesday, June 19th , 2041
It was a terrific day for Pedro Suárez of the Fushigi Yugi Celestial Warriors at Brown Bears Ballpark. The right-hander stood out with a fantastic 4-0 no-hitter against the Edo Battousai.
"I knew I had a no-no going in about the sixth inning when I noticed no one was talking to me anymore," he said, referring to the time-honored superstition of avoiding the pitcher so as not to jinx the no-hitter. "Don't let people fool you. Everybody on the field and in the ballpark knows what's happening. They just pretend they don't."
For the game, Suárez totaled 1 walk and 6 strikeouts in a very strong outing.
"His mechanics were perfect, and I don't think he threw one bad pitch in the whole game," Fushigi Yugi manager Van Landrigan said. "He was that good."
In 13 starts this season, Suárez has recorded 7 wins and absorbed 1 loss. He has pitched 102.2 innings, allowed 73 hits, struck out 99 and has a 1.67 ERA.
