Monday, June 16th , 2042
At the age of 17, Shigekazu Sakurai of the Kochi HS Shogun could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2042 was good enough to win the right fielder the Pacific Conference Outstanding Hitter Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .367 batting average this year, as well as a .420 on-base percentage. He played 45 games and racked up 61 hits, 7 doubles, 1 triple, 20 home runs, 38 RBIs and 35 runs scored.
He received 26 first place votes out of a possible 44. Sung-heun Kwon of the Yeosu HS Porpoises finished second in voting with 14 first place votes, while Jin Yoshida of the Osaka Toin HS Eijisu Masters finished third with 4 first place votes.
