AC Star of the Week Named Monday, April 21st , 2042 No single hit brought Luis Herrera Player of the Week honors -- the Guantanamo HS Diamond Cats first baseman corralled the award with a consistent approach in every at-bat. "Hitting is all about discipline," said Herrera. "When you lose focus, start to lunge at the ball and swing too aggressively... swinging at a lot of bad pitches... that's when your average starts to drop and you wind up fighting for playing time. You're most successful when you concentrate on the ball and make 'em throw strikes." Concentrate he did. Herrera stroked 10 hits in 26 at-bats while cranking out 6 home runs, 14 RBIs and 9 runs scored. Herrera is batting .282 with 14 home runs and 33 RBIs this season. |
