Big Day with Bat: Carranza 5-for-5 Monday, March 31st , 2042 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Luis Carranza, it came around today. The 16-year-old left fielder scattered hits all over Ballpark of Guantanamo to pace the 8-4 Guantanamo HS Diamond Cats victory over the Canuck HS Battlecats. Canuck HS skipper Ichiyo Sato told reporters in the press room that "Carranza deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Carranza hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Luis Carranza hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Luther Gibson in the 6th and singled in the 8th. Thus far this year, Carranza is batting .378 with 9 home runs, 19 RBIs and 15 runs scored. View Boxscore |
