Bang-up Game: Sakurai Slams 3 Homers Tuesday, March 4th , 2042 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Kisarazu Sogo HS Ninja. Kochi HS right fielder Shigekazu Sakurai tripled up on the home runs to propel the Shogun to a win, 11-8, at Ballpark of Kisarazu. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Kisarazu Sogo HS manager Pedro Gonzáles said. "Sakurai hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Sakurai collected 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Shigekazu Sakurai grounded out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Sadao Suzuki in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Munemori Sakamoto in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Munemori Sakamoto in the 9th. For the year, Sakurai has hit .684 with 6 home runs, 7 RBIs and scored 9 runs. |
