Shimeld Hurls No-Hitter
Sunday, April 21st , 2041
Joseph Shimeld relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Gonaives HS hitless in a win, 2-0, at Gonaives Ballpark.
"Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Revolution off balance and guessing the whole game."
The 17-year-old starter rung up 7 strikeouts and 1 walk in whipping the Revolution.
"When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Gonaives HS skipper Armando Navarro said.
On the season, Shimeld has 4 wins and 5 losses and a 1.61 ERA.
