Player of the Week: Zapopan's Montoya Monday, December 2nd , 2041 In the twilight of his career, 36-year-old Juan Jose Montoya of Zapopan recaptured some of the old magic last week and came away with the Alianza Beisbol Al Sur de la Frontera Player of the Week Award. "I've been playing since I was a kid," Montoya told reporters, "but you're never too old to feel the thrill of success." Montoya outpaced the rest of the league's hitters last week, reeling off 10 hits in 24 at-bats, 3 home runs, and 11 RBIs to stake his claim to the award. For the year, Montoya is hitting .251 with 17 home runs. His stats include 55 RBI and 62 runs scored. |
