Wilson Classical HS Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game Saturday, May 3rd , 2042 The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Lancers Ballpark as the Round 1 stretched to the final game. It was the Wilson Classical HS Bruins feeling the thrill of victory, with a 4-3 win over the Lakewood HS Lancers, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the Round 2. "There's no way around it -- this sucks," said Lakewood HS manager Bruce Mason. "Congratulations to Wilson Classical HS, but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight." Instrumental in the 4-3 series win was first baseman Kent González, who was named MVP. He hit .321 with a .387 on-base percentage. He had 4 home runs, drove in 7 RBI and scored 4 runs. "We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said. The Wilson Classical HS Bruins don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Lodi HS Devils - Mankato West HS Reds series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
