Panthers Heading to Round 2 Tuesday, April 29th , 2042 The DeSoto Central HS Panthers are riding high after winning the Round 1 and eliminating the Sarasota HS Sailors by a series score of 4-1. The final blow came tonight at Sailors Ballpark, when DeSoto Central HS secured its spot in the Round 2 with a 10-5 victory. "It feels good to put them away because we really didn't want to let them crawl back into this series," said shortstop Bill Gibson, who was named series MVP. "A team like that, you need to bury them when you get the chance." Gibson certainly helped his team's cause, as he hit .400 with a .400 on-base percentage in the series. He also chipped in 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 6 runs. The DeSoto Central HS Panthers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Blanchard HS Ligers - Central HS Wildcats series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
