MacDonald Untouchable, Tosses No-Hitter
Thursday, April 11th , 2041
It was a terrific day for John MacDonald of the Rio Rancho HS Goats at Ballpark of Rio Rancho. The right-hander stood out with a fantastic 5-0 no-hitter against the Chatfield HS Mustangs.
"I knew I had a no-no going in about the sixth inning when I noticed no one was talking to me anymore," he said, referring to the time-honored superstition of avoiding the pitcher so as not to jinx the no-hitter. "Don't let people fool you. Everybody on the field and in the ballpark knows what's happening. They just pretend they don't."
For the game, MacDonald totaled 3 walks and 9 strikeouts in a very strong outing.
"His mechanics were perfect, and I don't think he threw one bad pitch in the whole game," Rio Rancho HS manager Jim Hill said. "He was that good."
Up to now MacDonald has recorded a record of 3-2. In 8 starts he has fanned 29 batters in 45.1 innings with a 1.19 ERA.
