Piper Boosts Hit Streak to 20 Games
Tuesday, April 22nd , 2042
The number just keeps getting higher.
East Carolina first baseman Wes Piper has now extended his hitting string to 20 games. He did it today with 2 hits in 4 at-bats as the East Carolina won the game, 3-0, over the Southern Miss Confederates at Sea Dawgs Ballpark.
"Who knows how long it will go on?" Southern Miss manager Fernando Cervantes said. "He's certainly tough to pitch to right now." Wes Piper flied out in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Ben Springer in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
In 47 games this year, Piper has posted a .404 average and put up these numbers: 21 home runs, 55 RBIs and 44 runs scored.
