St. John's's Ruth Elbows His Way to USCBA COL Award

Philip Ruth finished off a fine season by taking home the United States Collegiate Baseball Association Outstanding Pitcher Award today.

The St. John's hurler went 4-4 on the year, posting a 0.86 ERA. Ruth also tallied 53 strikeouts in 63 innings and allowed opposing batters to hit only .179 against him.

He received 8 first place votes out of a possible 40. Paco Hernández of the Rutgers Old Queens finished second in voting with 15 first place votes, while Hugh Steuart of the Cincinnati Unifiers finished third with 9 first place votes.
