Laval-Calgary Fight Results in Suspensions Sunday, June 22nd , 2042 Yesterday at Islanders Ballpark Kip Barker and Víctor Fuentes got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Laval Islanders and Calgary Stampede. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Barker will have to sit out 4 while Fuentes would be given a 8-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Thus far this season in 54 games, Barker is batting .228 with 3 home runs, 15 RBIs and 17 runs scored. He has 37 hits in 162 at-bats. On his stats sheet for the year Fuentes shows a 5-5 record, 16 starts, 93.2 innings, 87 strikeouts and a 4.42 ERA. |
