Kim Shuts Out Kumamoto, 6-0
Sunday, June 1st , 2042
Hyun-chul Kim of the Hamilton Industrialists was on top of his game.
The 23-year-old tantalized the Kumamoto Mothra with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 6-0.
"He had the changeup working," Kumamoto manager Mike Robinson said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Hamilton hurler had 9 strikeouts, gave up no walks and surrendered 3 hits in his complete-game effort.
Kim told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
Running the numbers on Kim for the year, he has made no relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 6-4 won-lost mark with a 3.73 ERA. In pitching 79.2 innings, he has totaled 65 strikeouts and 23 walks.
