Gone with the Win: Career Record Falls to Castillo
Friday, September 12th , 2042
In with the new and out with the old. That's the way of the baseball world. Every season, rookies move in and push out the old veterans. And every season, a new name chases an old one out of the record books.
The baseball world has a new all-time career leader in wins: the marvelous Shin Seiki left-hander Jorge Castillo, who broke the record once held by the immortal Markus Hancock. The new record holder posted his historic win number 254 at Genesis Park today before an adoring crowd.
Speaking to the media after the game Castillo said the repeated standing ovations were "a once-in-a-lifetime feeling."
"It seemed like they gave me for every inning," he said with a grin.
To this point in the season Castillo has 12 wins and 8 losses and a 3.47 ERA.
