League Suspends Hitmen Gorrie 3 Games
Thursday, September 4th , 2042
It was showtime at the New Jersey-Florida game yesterday at Streets Casino and Holdings Park at Jacksonville. New Jersey third baseman Marvin Gorrie was kicked out of the game for arguing a third strike and he took out his frustration on his hat, the umpires and the dirt, earning an ejection with the kind of theatrical argument that fans don't often see.
"I didn't like the ump's explanation and told him so in no uncertain terms. I told him he missed it and he knew it. I wanted to kick something and I figured that was the best thing. Walls don't work too well, and water coolers are expensive," Gorrie said. "I don't have any concern. I don't think I did anything that warrants a suspension.
So much for his opinion. The league office did not agree with him and suspended him for 3 games.
This year, Gorrie is hitting at a .231 pace with 5 home runs and 28 RBIs. He has played in 90 games and scored 25 times.
