Alleghenies Guzmán Suspended Thursday, August 21st , 2042 Alfredo Guzmán's disrobing act in yesterday's loss to the Florida Farstriders at Streets Casino and Holdings Park at Jacksonville cost him a 3-game suspension. The league office informed the West Virginia Alleghenies today that their center fielder would be suspended for "his poor conduct and unacceptable behavior that made a farce out of the game." After being called out on strikes, Guzmán was ejected by the home plate umpire after a heated and animated discussion. In protest for the ejection, he proceeded to throw his bat down, take off his batting gloves, cap, shirt, socks and shoes and left them at home plate, refusing to pick them up. Asked about the suspension, Guzmán sheepishly told reporters, "I did a stupid and embarrassing thing. Let's just leave it at that." For the year, Guzmán is batting .244 with 10 home runs. |
