Mireles Slams 5 Hits for San Antonio Saturday, August 16th , 2042 The San Antonio Calzones of Laredo stopped the West Virginia Alleghenies by a score of 9-3 at Watt Powell Field, with the lion's share of the credit going to designated hitter Tony Mireles. The 31-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits. "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Mireles said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard." Mireles did just that in his 6 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Alleghenies. "Not much that I can say," offered West Virginia manager Salvador González. "He just hammered the heck out of us." Tony Mireles hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, struck out in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 10th.
