Kalamazoo-Palm Springs Deal: Morales for Meléndres Monday, July 28th , 2042 It likely won't turn either team into an instant contender or provide a huge franchise shakeup, but the Kalamazoo Badgers and Palm Springs Codgers finalized a trade today. Kalamazoo will send 33-year old LHP Pedro Morales to the Codgers, while the Badgers will receive 26-year old minor league RHP Sergio Meléndres. "We think this is a deal that will help out both teams and we're glad to get it done," Badgers general manager Jaime Stackpole said. The trade is expected to be officially completed later today with the players joining their new ballclubs by the end of the day. This season, Morales has logged 1 save. He has thrown 15.2 innings, dished out 17 strikeouts and walked 7 while putting up a 2-1 mark and a 4.02 ERA. Over his career Meléndres has a 6-8 won-lost record with a 3.86 ERA. In 69 games he has recorded 2 saves, and the 26-year-old has fanned 152 batters in 191 innings. |
