Alleghenies Keep Streak Alive with Late Rally
Behind the bravura of first baseman Alejandro Luján, the West Virginia Alleghenies topped the Manchester Maulers by the score of 8-6. Luján was 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Alleghenies. Arthur Mapstone, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-3. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. Christopher MacWhirter recorded the save, his 3rd.

West Virginia used a timely hit from Bruce Lawson to get the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Alleghenies ahead, 7-6. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"You can't hate how you win if you win," said West Virginia skipper Salvador González.

West Virginia is now 34-29.
