Ciudad Acuna Slaps 7-4 Loss on Adelantados
|
Spirited fans greeted the Merida Adelantados for their clash with the Ciudad Acuna Mariachis.
Led by Mario Vázquez, the Ciudad Acuna Mariachis downed the Merida Adelantados, 7-4. Vázquez went 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Mariachis. Héctor Reyes picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 6-1. Jesús Madrigal was tagged with the loss. José Castro was called on to finish, recording his 17th save.
The Mariachis got a big at-bat from right fielder Ángel Villanueva. For the game, Villanueva was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 12th double of the season gave Ciudad Acuna a 4-2 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Villanueva.
The 7th-place Mariachis lifted their record to 29-39.
