Mariachis Topple Adelantados with Late Rally

The Merida Adelantados could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Gabriel Borges into a win. Instead, the Ciudad Acuna Mariachis prevailed, 3-1. Borges threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. Ciudad Acuna reliever Víctor Meléndez picked up the win to move to 5-3. Mario López suffered the loss. The Mariachis saw their record improve to 28-39.
Mario Vázquez delivered a big hit for Ciudad Acuna. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mariachis ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Vázquez.
