Diego Quiñones pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Leon Zapateros, despite Quiñones's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Ciudad Acuna Mariachis at Ballpark of León. Héctor Reyes, now 5-1, was credited with the win in 1.1 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 2. The 7th-place Mariachis now have a win-loss record of 27-36.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Ángelo Rangel? The Ciudad Acuna third baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Mariachis on top, 1-0. For the game, Rangel had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Ciudad Acuna manager Dave Long. "Our pregame was pretty good."
