Starting pitcher Pedro Méndez pitched well enough to help the Hermosillo Sols beat the Zapopan Torrenas, 5-3. Méndez, now 3-3, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The Zona Sur-leading Sols are 39-24.
It could have been a different outcome for Hermosillo, had it not been for Francisco González, the four-time All-Star . González contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put Hermosillo up, 3-0.
