The Ciudad Juarez Velas got a stellar performance from pitcher Claudio Rivera, who handcuffed the Ciudad Acuna offense en route to a win, 8-1, at Mariachis Ballpark. The Velas bumped their record to 32-30 with this win.

In the top of the fourth, Carlos Garza delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Ciudad Juarez catcher hit a run-scoring single, putting the Velas in front, 8-1.

"We played hard and won," said Rivera. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
