Bang-xao Niu, who finished 3rd in the IL in strikeouts with 186 in 2035, pitched a gem in leading Palm Springs to a 4-1 victory over the Bakersfield Bears. The loss has the Bears at 3-4.

Oniji Kichikawa had a direct impact on the outcome. Kichikawa contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Palm Springs up, 1-0.

"We did the things it takes to win a ballgame," said Palm Springs manager Bob Sullivan.
