Rivera reaches base 4 times in Torrenas Win
|
Due in large part to designated hitter Ángel Rivera, the Zapopan Torrenas sunk the Guadalajara Chivas Rayadas, 7-5. Rivera was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Jesús Mireles earned the save for Zapopan, his 15th. The losing streak for Guadalajara has now reached 4 games.
Rivera had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 0-1 changeup from Gabriel Trevino, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Torrenas a 7-5 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Rivera.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Rivera, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
