Late Rally by Frijoles de Dios Seals 4th Straight Win
|
The Guadalupe Frijoles de Dios faced a tough opponent in Tlalnepantla de Baz pitcher Pedro López, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Progresivos Ballpark by a final score of 5-2. López went 5.2 innings and allowed no runs. José Pérez earned the win for Guadalupe. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 5-5. Roberto Acala picked up his 2nd save of the season.
Guadalupe needed the clutch hitting of Enrico Cruz to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Frijoles de Dios on top, 3-2. For the game, Cruz had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Guadalupe manager Danny Hendricks.
The Progresivos, at 21-29, have lost 4 straight games.
