Kentucky Gets Another L
|
Getting an impressive start from Manny Gracía, West Virginia beat Kentucky by the score of 2-1. Gracía yielded 1 run over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 5-5. The Thoroughbreds have now dropped 7 straight.
George Stroud had a big run-scoring double for the Alleghenies in the bottom of the fourth inning. With West Virginia leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from Kyle Colquhoun, who leads the IL in innings pitched with 95.0, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Alleghenies ahead, 2-0.
"I liked his command," said West Virginia manager Salvador González. "Manny was throwing strikes."
