The Hermosillo Sols beat the El Ray Vampiros, 5-3, at Sols Ballpark. Félix Vargas was 2-3 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The 25-year old left fielder was a menace to El Ray all day. The win went to Salvador Heredia in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Carlos Rivera took the loss. Félix Ramírez finished to wrap up his 13th save.
Vargas had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a first pitch slider from Carlos Rivera, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Sols a 4-2 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Vargas.
Vargas expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
The Sols improved their record to 21-24 by beating El Ray.
