Vampiros Best Jardineros in Pitching Duel
|
In a low-scoring affair between the El Ray Vampiros and the San Luis Potosi Jardineros, pitcher Cris Castillo was the difference between victory and defeat. The El Ray left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 Vampiros win. Félix López collected his 3rd save. El Ray, now 21-18, holds down third place in the Zona Sur.
Roberto Avalos, who is a three-time All-Star, had a direct impact on the outcome. Avalos contributed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put El Ray up, 2-0.
"I was a little disappointed," said San Luis Potosi manager Dave Copeland. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
