Reno Bats Quiet in 6-1 Loss
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Kalamazoo Badgers and Reno Zephyrs.

The Kalamazoo Badgers took Reno pitcher Carmelo Lamberti's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Washoe Field. The final score had Kalamazoo getting past the Zephyrs, 6-1. Lamberti went 7.2 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 9. The winner in relief was Everett Brady. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0.

John Morán had a big solo home run for the Badgers in the top of the sixth inning. With Kalamazoo leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Carmelo Lamberti, who is tied for 10th in the SL in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Badgers on top, 2-0.

"I know we have our doubters," said Reno manager António Morales. "But I still have high hopes for this team."

The last-place Badgers own a record of 19-42.
