Torrenas Earn 5-2 Home Win
|
Zapopan pitcher Juan Barrón did his part in helping his team defeat the Ecatepec Morelos, 5-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. The winner was Barrón. He threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Roberto Alonaso. Jesús Mireles stitched up the save, his 10th.
The Torrenas got a big at-bat from second baseman Juan Jose Montoya. For the game, Montoya was 2-4 with a triple and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 3rd triple of the season gave Zapopan a 3-1 lead.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Torrenas manager Todd Burns. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
The win for the Torrenas raised their record to 20-18.
