Deltas Rally to Win
|
The Long Beach Oilers got a superb performance from designated hitter Atsushi Ono, but the Sacramento Deltas still won the game, 6-3. Ono hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The third-place Deltas improved to 43-35.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Oeke Verwest came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Long Beach pitcher Senzo Matsuo, he hit a first pitch cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Sacramento on top, 4-3.
Verwest called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
