Loggers Topple Chinook, 6-3, as Eremitani Shines
At Kauffman Stadium, the Portland Chinook and Tacoma Loggers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Tacoma Loggers cut down the Portland Chinook by the score of 6-3, with the largest share of the credit going to left fielder Giampaolo Eremitani. Eremitani went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3 for the Loggers. David Truscott, the winner, goes to 6-2. He allowed 3 runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 10 strikeouts over 7.1 innings. Bill Frederick notched his 22nd save in 25 chances.

Tacoma used the timely hitting of George Bennett to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Loggers on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We didn't play well enough to win," said Portland skipper Artie Herman.

By defeating Portland, the first-place Loggers improved to 47-31.
