Lions Lose as Leones Stage Late Rally

Amsterdam got a big-time effort from pitcher Lorenzo López, but it wasn't enough to keep the Havana Leones from winning the game, 5-4. López threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Pablo Salinas was credited with the save for Havana, his 18th of the season. The Leones go to 62-73, putting them 5th in the Imperial League Trans Atlantic.
Havana used a clutch hit from Luis Gallegos to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Leones ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Gallegos told the Havana Times.
