Imperials Score Late to Win, 6-3
|
The University of Tokyo Imperials racked up a win at Sydney Cricket Grounds, bumping off the University of Sydney Wallabies, 6-3. Keiji Fujii, who started for University of Tokyo, pitched effectively for his team. Jun'ichiro Iwai picked up the save for University of Tokyo, his 8th of the year. University of Tokyo is third in the Pacific League Tokyo Big6 Division with a record of 19-31.
Yoshinori Nishida provided a timely hit. The University of Tokyo pinch hitter delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Imperials on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
After the game, University of Tokyo manager Toshikazu Koyama applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
