Koalas Winners, 4-2, Over Bishops

Yasukazu Matsumoto did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Rikkyo University Bishops from being beaten, 4-2, to the University of Queensland Koalas at Ballpark of Queensland. Matsumoto went 2 for 3 with a home run. Mick Ryan was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Motonobu Hayagawa. The Koalas, at 28-20, lead by one game in their division.
Dong-po Warwick, who is tied for 7th in the PL in bases on balls with 23, had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, the University of Queensland catcher hit a run-scoring single. That put the Koalas in front, 3-2.
Said losing manager Xiong Ci: "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."
