The Curtin University Cockatoos faced a tough opponent in University of Queensland pitcher Cam Albertson, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Cockatoo Cricket Grounds by a final score of 6-1. Albertson went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Reliever Tom Ising picked up the win. His record improves to 3-0. Cam Albertson, who is tied for 7th in the PL in quality starts with 4, took the loss. The last-place Cockatoos hiked their record to 18-25.
Cooper Beggs, who is tied for 5th in the PL in home runs with 13, helped out the Curtin University cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the first baseman was 1 for 4.
Despite the victory, Beggs was prickly with assembled media after the game. He said only that he was "happy with the win."
