Despite a great performance by Kalamazoo designated hitter Christof Pilsner, the Neo-Tokyo Akira defeated the Badgers by the score of 6-5 at Portage Park. Pilsner was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner was Alfredo Tapia in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Alonso Hernández took the loss. Neo-Tokyo sits in last place in the Sovereign League Rising Sun at 22-36.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Jesús Ortíz came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Kalamazoo pitcher Alonso Hernández, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Neo-Tokyo on top, 6-5.

"We're not exactly playing great right now," said José Guillén, the Kalamazoo manager.
