Starting pitcher Brendan Gillett pitched well enough to help the University of Queensland Koalas beat the Aoyama Gakuin Mighty Missionaries, 6-5. Jerry Sellick earned the save for University of Queensland, his 9th. The Koalas, at 19-16, sit in second place in the Pacific League Down Under Division.

University of Queensland took a 6-5 lead on Caspar Hill's 11th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Hill hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Aoyama Gakuin pitcher Izo Nii visibly frustrated.

"When there are games to be won, you win them," said University of Queensland manager Roberto Mendoza.
